Variations on Mountain Sunrise series.

This image was created in Corel Painter and finished in Photoshop. I wanted to create a set of shapes that wouldbecome the basis for a series of variations. So far I have about fifty variations of the whole image and additional variations on the image cropped. The title was suggested after I looked at the image.

These images are derived from an earlier post of a white dahlia. I increased the amount of vectorisation and came up with this quite geometric form which to me suggested its title. I found these colour values quite attractive-potentially I have an infinite range of possibilities to explore (which I will leave for a rainy day).

Blue Trunk 1997

After several experimental scanning sessions, I focussed on what I could do with quite short logs-about 40 centimetres long. I painted them separately with blue or orange acrylic paint before placing them on a flatbed scanner. I saved the scan in photoshop. I then selected a suitable background-plenty of texture and colour and still in photoshop, merged the images in layers. There was of course, some work with light and colour saturation etc. They resize very well for printing.
